Altinkum

Altinkum is set on a fantastic geographical part of the world and boasts one of the healthiest climates in the world. It is 200 km south of Turkey’s third largest city, Izmir; 73 km from Kusadasi and 110 km from Bodrum, which are the two largest tourist resorts of the Aegean coast. The journey from Bodrum airport will take just over 1 hour and from Izmir airport approx 1 1/2 hours.

The Beach

Altinkum translated means "Golden Sand" and relates to the beautiful beaches in this holiday resort. The beaches are very safe for families with children as the waters are shallow and slope gently into the aqua blue Aegean sea, they are just as appealing to those just wanting to unwind, take it easy and work on their tans. The beach wraps round the picturesque Altinkum Bay forming three beaches one at either end of the town and the main beach, there are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas for hire at very reasonable rates and many restaurants and markets nearby to supply cooling drinks and snacks. Go for a paddle or a swim in the calm sparkling blue waters where you will find a large assortment of water sports and if you like to explore the area you will find many more beautiful beaches and places of interest. There is a small harbour area near to the main beach that offers daily boat trips to 5 islands in the area, and ferries to take you to Bodrum and the Greek Islands of Kos or Samos.NEW PROJECTS-The new fabulous marina has just opened bettering anything Spain has to offer,along with the planned golf course we believe it caters well for you whatever your preferences.

AKBUK

A smaller quieter resort with pine trees stretching down to the seashore, a popular resortwith both Turkish and English more suited ti those looking fora retired lifestyle or a relaxing holiday, a fishing village that still operates its harbour, restaurants and bars are dotted along the seafront,Akbuk is basically a villa only ares and like Altinkum is in the midst of a property boom, land and properties are an excellent investment because of its panaromic views of the mountains and Akbuk bay, along with one of the healthiest climates in the world makes it a dream.Transfer time from Bodrum airport 1 hr,the cosmopolitan city of Izmir and popular resorts of Bodrum and Kusadasi are all within 1 to 2 hours drive from the area and well worth a visit.

THE TEMPLE OF APOLLON


Didyma is located close to the local town of Söke of which both are in the province of Aydin on the Aegean Coast. Yenihisar has become the town centre for the holiday resort of Altinkum. Where you will find many traditional Turkish shops and restaurants and the famous Saturday market. Here one finds an important 3,000 year old sanctuary (Appollon Temple) that housed one of the oracles of Apollo. It was connected to Miletus by sea, and those arriving by ship would land at the harbour of Panormus and thence follow the Sacred way to Didyma. Until its destruction by the Persians in 494 B.C. it was administered by the family of the Branchidae, the descendants of Bronchos, a youth beloved of Apollo. For the last two kilometres the Sacred Way was lined with seated statues of the male and female members of the Branchidae family

THE COASTAL REGION 

The coast is already famous for its marinas, and a number of new projects are due to be launched soon, already mentioned is the newly opened Marina in Altinkum which is the largest Marina on this coast of Turkey, also work around the popular existing marina at Göcek, between Dalaman and Fethiye. There are 174 Blue Flag beaches already and dozens of improvement projects underway and once visited most tourists return time and time again. This is mainly due to the friendliness of the locals, the long hours of sunshine and excellent value for money.
